According to the Public Relations of the Iranian Children's Physicians Association, Dr. Ali Rabbani, the Chairman of the Iranian Children's Physicians Association, emphasizing the necessity of actualizing medical service tariffs, called for the full implementation of the resolution of the Islamic Council regarding tariffs and asked the members of the parliament to defend their approved law in this regard.
Referring to the serious challenges of the health system, he said: "In order for patients to benefit from accurate, scientific and humane medical services, it is necessary to set medical tariffs based on the economic realities of the country."He added: "Currently, the gap between the actual costs of providing services and the approved tariffs has caused heavy pressure on the medical community and a serious threat to the quality of medical services."
Referring to the Universal Insurance Law approved in 1373, the head of the Iranian Children's Doctors Association noted: According to the resolution of the Islamic Council, the government was obliged to revise and actualize the tariffs for medical services starting from the same year, but unfortunately, this legal duty has not been implemented in the past three decades. This neglect has caused deep crises in the health system, increased economic pressure on doctors, and in some cases, bankruptcy and even serious mental injuries among the medical community. He added: "In the Universal Insurance Law and other related approvals, the Islamic Council has specified the determination of real tariffs as a legal and necessary right. The expectation of the medical community is that the parliament will support the strict implementation of these laws and prevent the continuation of the current situation."
Dr. Rabbani emphasized that the tariffs should be determined based on the real costs of treatment, depreciation of equipment and investment of medical centers, and said: "Unrealistic tariffs not only threaten the dignity of doctors, but also cause a drop in the quality of services and dissatisfaction of patients."
He pointed to the weakness of insurances in covering the real costs of treatment and said: "When the insurances do not have the ability to make real payments, in practice, it is these doctors who subsidize the people from their income." Such a situation is unsustainable in the long term and must be corrected by the decisive decision of the parliament and the government."
In the end, he reminded: "Formula K, which has been predicted since 2003 for the scientific calculation of tariffs, has not yet been properly implemented. As long as the basis of tariffs is not based on real economic data, the health system of the country will have problems in balancing cost and quality."
Dr. Rabbani emphasized: "Iranian pediatric doctors community demands that the Islamic Council, with effective supervision and serious support, provides the basis for the real implementation of this legal resolution, so that while maintaining the quality of medical services, the professional dignity of doctors is also maintained."
In the end, he informed about the official correspondence of the Association of Pediatric Doctors of Iran with the President and Speaker of the Islamic Council and said: "In these letters, the necessity of immediate revision of the tariffs and the implementation of the legal resolution of the Parliament has been clearly stated, and the association is waiting to receive a response and practical action from the highest authorities of the country."
