This pattern is also observed in Iran, and most of the provinces have been facing a significant growth of infections in recent weeks. Forecasts show that this trend will continue until January.
Increasing cases of infection in children
Mohammed Zenozirad, the secretary of the Iranian Children's Physicians Association, in a conversation with Mehr reporter, pointed to the conflict of all age groups and called children and teenagers the most affected group in the recent wave and said: high fever is the most common reason for children to go to medical centers, and in cases where fever control is not done on time, there is a possibility of convulsions.
Prevalence of H3N2 substrain
He stated that in the current wave, type A influenza virus, especially the H3N2 substrain, has a greater contribution to the infection, and added: Paying attention to early symptoms and prevention plays a fundamental role in controlling the spread of the disease.
Preventive recommendations
Emphasizing the necessity of observing hygiene principles in the season of respiratory diseases, Zanozirad said: Frequent washing of hands and face with soap and water, covering the mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, avoiding being in crowded places, proper ventilation of closed spaces, adequate sleep and healthy eating (especially consumption of fruits and vegetables) and using a mask in high-traffic environments without proper ventilation are considered to be among the most important preventive measures during this period.Necessary measures in case of infection
According to the secretary of the Association of Pediatricians of Iran, in case of flu symptoms, it is better to pay attention to a few points.
He added: Staying at home for at least two days after the fever stops, taking enough rest and drinking fluids, proper nutrition and bathing, taking permitted fever reducers such as acetaminophen, strictly avoiding self-inflicted use of antibiotics, using a mask and proper ventilation of the sick room, staying away from vulnerable people such as other children and the elderly are warning signs that require immediate referral.
Zanuzirad noted: In case of shortness of breath, fever for more than two days, severe weakness, loss of consciousness, bruised lips or the child's inability to eat and drink, it is necessary to see a pediatrician immediately.
Secretary of the Association of Pediatricians of Iran, pointing to the rising trend of infection, emphasized: it is necessary to close high-traffic centers and schools, as well as to continue the implementation of remote work until conditions are stabilized and a suitable level of safety is reached. In addition to reducing disease transmission, this decision will also reduce air pollution caused by urban traffic.
