Lasak operation LASIK or PRK is one of the most important operations for the correction of refractive errors (including myopia, farsightedness and astigmatism), which made significant progress with the invention of the excimer device. The excimer laser was initially used for very precise cuts in the industry, but it gradually made its way to the medical world and the efractive refractive laser was used for correction for the first time. The PRK operation was in 1987. It was done since AD and since then this method has been used all over the world for the correction of refractive errors in the last three decades with excellent results and very high safety.. - Age, PRK surgery is usually performed from the age of 18.... On the other hand, this method can be performed until the age of 50 to 55 years.. or without cross-linking.... - The number of myopic glasses can be corrected from about 0.75 to about 6 with PRK.... in higher myopic numbers, although the possibility of LASIK There are but according to better results LASIK or SMILE operations are recommended... - Astigmatism is corrected up to number three with the PRK device, except for Exocimer cases, up to the number may be corrected... LASIK operation with a smile is recommended.... - Although with the Excimer device, astigmatism can be corrected up to number six, except in the case of a camera with a low number, Femto LASIK is the preferred method in a camera... ** 6 points before the operation LASIK** 1... Be careful in choosing an ophthalmologist... Cornea specialist colleagues have the most knowledge and experience in the field of correcting refractive errors, especially in complex cases... 2... It should be noted that if a person uses soft contact lenses, they should stop using hard lenses for at least one week, and if they use hard lenses, for at least three weeks... 3... It is better to avoid makeup around the eyes on the day of the examination... 5... Examination with pupil opening drops is an important part of examinations before The procedure is PRK.. Do not drive after the examination due to blurred vision after pouring this drop.... 6.... Please bring your medical and ophthalmology records, corneal images, previous glasses, list of ophthalmic and non-ophthalmic medications.... ### **Before examination for Lasak or PRK** For a person who has come to remove glasses and perform PRK (LASEK), detailed and complete examinations must be done... It can be said that this step is the most important step to achieve excellent results in the follow-up of PRK... At first, a detailed history of the person's health status or the presence of eye diseases will be asked... Over time, the question will be asked and also the duration of using the lens and the history of contact with it will be determined... Chronic itching and rubbing of the eyes must be told to the attending physician.... The family history of keratoconus is also an important point that the doctor will ask you... Presbyopia symptoms, your occupation and hobbies (such as sports, artistic activities, etc.) will be asked to make a better decision for the operation... First, the number of eyes measured by the person with the best glasses is the most suitable glasses. ... then it is requested to take corneal images... to avoid refractive errors... Also, considering that based on the number of glasses, some of the corneal tissue is carefully shaved with a laser device, measuring the thickness of the cornea helps us to know whether the corneal tissue can be used permanently in these cases or not... It should be repeated in the future; Then a decision is made for the operation....the intraocular pressure is also measured....then by using drops to open the pupil, the matching power of the eye is neutralized and the number of glasses is re-measured....finally, a complete examination of the optic nerve and retina is performed....### **consultation before LASIK** If the examinations are normal and the corneal images are not a problem, the ophthalmologist will explain to you that it is possible to perform PRK. In some cases, pre-surgical treatments may be needed. Alternative treatments such as intraocular lens implantation may be suggested. According to the individual's conditions, expectations and requests, as well as PRK and SRK mille examinations, the steps will be explained. Astigmatism chooses.. The brilliant results of the PRK operation have been proven over time.. Due to the lack of use of the Femto device in this operation, the cost of the PRK operation is lower than that of the LASIK and smile operations.... Also, it cannot be affected after the PRK operation. People who are prone to eye damage, such as combat athletes and soldiers... usually dry eyes are resolved faster after PRK than LASIK. After the PRK operation, the patient may have pain in the first 1-2 days.... But with the correct use of drugs, the amount of pain can be reduced or completely eliminated.... Also, compared to the LASIK or Smile operation, the patient's vision after the PRK operation was completed with a longer delay.... This time usually takes 1-2 months for the person to reach the maximum daily use time.. Drops for a long time for 2-3 months and wearing sunglasses for 6 months after the PRK operation... After the operation PRK usually requires more post-operative examinations and eye care.. There is a possibility that the number of glasses will return a few months or a few years after the operation, but this probability is low.... It should be noted that in a person who has myopia, for example, this number is 5 times mine, this number is 5 times mine.. No, and they have little myopia or astigmatism, the probability of the number of glasses returning is less..... ### **Complications after PRK** The most important complication after LASIK surgery is corneal infection, which usually occurs in the first 7-10 days. This complication is rare and can be prevented by following the post-operative care. In the first days, pain, redness, tearing and blurred vision are normal. Analgesic drops to control pain and artificial tear drops to treat dryness after surgery... To control pain, you will be given an oral pain reliever such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen codeine, which you usually use during the first two days. There should be at least 5 minutes between drops. There is no need to use drops while sleeping. Rubbing the eyes and wiping the eyes with a contaminated hand or tissue should avoid contact with the eyes. Because it may cause infection.... Avoid washing your head and eyes after.... If you are sensitive to light, you can use sunglasses at home, otherwise normal light is not harmful to your eyes.... Short-term use of mobile phones and computers is not prohibited.... Remember that in the first month, especially in the first week, your vision becomes blurry and variable, and gradually your daily activities become a little dark or limited in the first week.... and avoid dirt.... It is better not to travel in the first week.... Do not drive until you have found good vision for your safety and that of others.... It is better not to make up around the eyes in the first month.... You should not swim in the first month either.... if you can avoid hitting your eyes After about 2 weeks, you can start exercising.... Your post-operative examinations will be done one week, one month after the operation. Take a bath the night before the operation...don't wear makeup on the day of the operation...don't be hungry and eat light food...if the doctor has prescribed you medicines before the PRK operation...be at the clinic at the scheduled time and bring your file...take it with you...you must also wear suitable sunglasses...these glasses must have the following specifications: - It must be original.... - The frames must fit your face and cover the eyes completely.... - It must be dark in color and fully absorb ultraviolet rays (UV400). .... it has complications, but if you cooperate well and follow the doctor's instructions, your operation will be easier and more convenient... you will operate... because you will be given an anesthetic drop and the area around your eye will be disinfected with betadine.... in the operating room, you must be careful not to touch the area around your eye until the operation is finished.... then they will stretch the area around your eye on the laser bed.... the eye will be kept open with a device called a speculum.... so don't worry about closing your eyes Don't be during the operation... ### Note: Remember this point, if you close your eyes voluntarily and with pressure, it will be painful for you.... First, your eye is washed, the device takes an image of your eye and it matches the image that was already taken in the clinic... Then, using diluted alcohol, the thin layer of the corneal surface is loosened and the eye is washed again... This layer should be removed from your eye for a minute. Stare at the flashing green light of the machine and avoid moving your eyes... Of course, if your eyes move a lot, don't worry until you look at the green eye light, the operation will be temporarily stopped by the surgeon or the machine... In case of slight movements, advanced and modern excimer devices will detect these movements and the laser will be applied to the exact location of the cornea.
