Hirschsprung's disease
is an intestinal disease in which the intestinal nerve is not formed and the problem of intestinal growth is caused and excretion is disturbed.
Other symptoms and signs in infants include the following:
- Swollen abdomen
- Vomiting, including vomiting of a green or brown substance Constipation or gas, which may make the newborn restless
- diarrhea
- Delayed passage of meconium – the baby's first bowel movement
In older children, signs and symptoms include:
- Swollen abdomen Chronic constipation
- Growth disorder
- Anemia
- Enterocolitis
The role of heredity and genetics and some diseases, including Down syndrome, are common.
Diagnosis is determined by barium enema and a biopsy of the intestine, which shows that the intestine does not have ganglia and nerves.
Surgical treatment and removal of the part of the intestine that does not have nerves.
