What is obsession? Mood disorders and obsessions, like other body emotions such as stress and anxiety, originate from our brain.... These disorders have a psychological aspect.... The sense of obsession actually appears and causes a series of reactions and behaviors in people.... We all have experienced it sometimes.... For example, how many times we wash our hands that they were clean the first time, because we think that the door is constantly closed, do we think that they are still closing.... Is it or not? Or go to the car several times to make sure it is locked.... These things often appear in us as obsessions.... All of these are examples of things that first form in our minds and we call them obsessions; And after repeating the action several times, they have become habits that do not disappear easily, and they are called compulsive or practical obsessions... If the obsession continues, the nervous system gradually loses control of this feeling, so that, for example, a person is not convinced that his hands are clean... he does not realize that his hands do not need to be washed several times. He knows that he is not doing something logical.... but he is not able to stop his work.... He feels in his mind that he will not rest until his work is finished.... ### Is obsession at a certain age?. Does it start? Although the feeling of obsession appears more with maturity and the development of secondary sexual characteristics, it is often taken from a person's childhood... Psychologists also believe that this feeling is a kind of instinct that is involved in a vicious cycle... that is, a person who constantly feels dirty and constantly cleans himself and his living area, instinctively likes cleanliness... The subconscious mind makes the person wash... But this feeling It repeats to such an extent that the mind enters a harmful cycle. It is true that in general, all these mental cycles that are constantly repeated in the mind and appear in the form of actions are called obsessions... but for the ease of treating these people, obsessions have been classified.... Obsessions can manifest in many ways, but most fall into these four main categories. ##### Obsession with cleanliness: This type of obsession includes a wide range.... For example, liquid obsession is a type of this category in which a person feels bad about body fluids and even sweat... or disease obsession in which a person is afraid of getting sick.... Most of these people avoid losing or meeting others to avoid contamination.... Also, using public facilities such as public bathrooms or toilets is painful for them.... Thoughts: In this group of people, they experience frequent thoughts that are violent or sexual in nature, and even though they may not have a history of violence or other abuse, they feel ashamed of their thoughts... and symmetry: This type of obsession is very common and a person spends a lot of time examining his appearance... he wants to know that his body is symmetrical and beautiful... or he likes everything to always be in its place and the symmetry of the objects in his house is maintained.... In some cases, it has been seen that people who are obsessed with symmetry and order think that something bad might happen if they don't arrange things in their own way... As we said, most types of obsessions fall into the four general categories above, but other types are also considered obsessions, such as The following things.. will remain forever and it is not worth everything, this mental pressure and self-harm... slowly, everyone who looks at him intends to attack him.... or he may have this obsession towards his child and think that every look at his child means... - and..... ### What is obsession? Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) occurs when an impulse forms in your mind and even though the problem has been solved, this thought continues to move in its cycle.. These preoccupations and worries not only reduce a person's energy, but also reduce the power of concentration and appear as psychological and behavioral symptoms... What is it? The main root of obsessive thoughts in people is the fear of a specific issue that causes stress and anxiety and manifests itself as depression in the long run.. By entering into a cycle and creating continuous nerve impulses in the mind, these thoughts appear as obsessions or actions... For example, a person is extremely perfectionist and likes everything to be always in its best state.. This tendency in the person's subconscious mind makes him afraid of being incomplete and not ideal, and as a result, this fear makes his mind more excitable in such a way that he tends to do a certain thought or behavior continuously... It is even possible that when the mind is caught in this cycle, the person's sleep cycle is also damaged and makes him go to sleep at night with stress and fear of wake up which leads to depression in the long run... or what are the characteristics of people who have obsessive thoughts? - Lots of mental motivations - Being anxious - A feeling of fear - Depression - Sensitivity to issues such as cleaning - Being isolated - Obsessive thinking and behavior towards the actions they were encouraged to do in childhood ### Which famous people suffer from OCD? There are many people who suffer from obsessive-compulsive disorder in different ways. Among them, artists, athletes and famous people are not excluded from this rule and suffer from mental conflicts such as obsession with cleanliness, obsession with order, etc.. From things and they are order, to some extent, according to his wife, three refrigerators and freezers to categorize different food in.... People like Justin Timberlake not only suffer from obsessive-compulsive disorder but also from attention deficit disorder.... ### What is the treatment of obsessive compulsive disorder?.. #### These people can be treated in two ways... #### 1... Psychiatric treatments: In this type of treatment, the patient tries to find the main source of his obsession with the help of a neurologist or psychiatrist... for example, the doctor asks him to relax his muscles... with a deep breath, he thinks about his fear, which is the main cause of his obsession... 2... drug therapy: If you do not recover with the non-pharmacological methods of a neurologist or a psychiatrist, you must take medicine... These medicines are mainly antidepressants that increase the amount of serotonin in the brain... Note that you take these medicines under the supervision of a doctor, never stop them arbitrarily and also know that their use during pregnancy is only possible with the doctor's discretion.. intellectual Many patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder, whether they are aware of it or secretly suffer from it, continue their lives without treatment. Unfortunately, they face difficult situations in their daily lives. Rodrigues announced the results of this research as follows.. At first, Rodrigues said: The research conducted in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder is usually seen in the case of obsessive-compulsive disorder. Reuptake inhibitors are used to treat OCD patients. In addition, behavioral therapy is performed by specialists to control symptoms and respond to it. With the help of behavioral therapy, they try to break the connection between intrusive thoughts that cause anxiety and compulsion... #### What were the drugs examined?..Usually drugs and behavioral therapy cure half of the patients and the other half are still having problems....Rodriguez believed that ketamine helps some patients....but because of the very strong effects of ketamine, this drug is not usable for patients....Ketamine is usually used to induce and maintain anesthesia...Important note: normal use is dangerous for patients....Rodriguez of low-dose ketamine as well as saline It is used as a drip injection in some patients....The result was that many patients reported cessation of obsessive symptoms and some said they wanted to continue having these types of thoughts, despite the presence of patients who received ketamine, they could not continue having these types of thoughts. is) something that needs more research.... ### Neuromodulation Therapies in Research In addition, treatment with neuromodulation method (changing the electrical activities of the brain through electrical or chemical stimulation) was investigated. In a study of 7 patients over 5 days, 71% of patients showed a strong response to this method and at least 50% reduction in OCD symptoms between 7 and 14 days. Research in this field should be continued... ### Possible side effects of these drugs include the following: - Feeling sick, anxious or restless - Constipation or diarrhea - Dizziness - Insomnia - Headache and loss of libido The need for these treatments is different for different people and depends on the severity of their illness...
