Treatment of infant jaundice
The treatment of infant jaundice is mostly based on phototherapy (light therapy). which causes the decomposition of bilirubin in the baby's blood. However, based on the amount of jaundice and the time of jaundice, especially in the first days of birth, as well as the tables in the references, it is determined by the pediatric and infant specialist whether they need to be admitted to the hospital or undergo phototherapy at home.
In severe and rare cases of jaundice, blood exchange may be required in the hospital.
