Proctoscope is a medical instrument used to examine the rectum and anus . A proctoscope consists of a hollow tube with a light source attached to it that allows doctors to see inside the rectum and anus. Proctoscope may be used to diagnose diseases such as hemorrhoids, anal fissures or rectal polyps.
It can also be used to perform some procedures such as biopsy or used to remove small lumps. During the proctoscopy examination, the patient usually lies on his side and while the doctor slowly inserts the proctoscope into the anus, the patient pulls his knees towards the chest.
Although this procedure may be uncomfortable or embarrassing for some patients, it is generally safe and relatively painless when performed by a trained medical professional. data-darkreader-inline-color="" style="color: rgb(147, 101, 184); --darkreader-inline-color: #8e5fb3;">pain in is considered.
