The need for work has existed since ancient times, and as time passes, its importance increases. Career counseling is one of the basic and fateful decisions for people. In the past, when the variety of occupations was not as high as today, the selection of occupations for children was often inherited. In other words, the children chose the same occupation as the father and continued it. But today, choosing a job is one of the most important steps in every person's life and it can determine their future in a way. Choosing a suitable job determines whether a person has a high or low income, enjoys life or is constantly challenged and worried. Be motivated to do your work and strive to achieve your goals or constantly look forward to Fridays and holidays. A person who is not interested in his job, even if he has the best position, he still cannot have the highest level of progress, he does not enjoy life and constantly seeks to escape from work, he does not make any effort to achieve great things. So checking criteria in career counseling is very important. What is career counseling? Your career development is a lifelong process. which affects your life and future. Your interests, abilities, values, personality, background and circumstances in choosing a job is a process that helps you to know yourself and the world of work and choose your future correctly. What is the purpose of career counseling? A goal is, simply put, what you want to have in the future. It can be a want or a need, and it can even be long-term or short-term. One of your most important career goals is deciding what career to pursue, because you'll have to work at it for years, and if it doesn't match your temperament, you certainly won't enjoy it. Do you want to be a chemist, doctor, fundraiser, project manager, salesperson, or something else? The fact that when I grow up I want everyone to call me doctor is not enough to set a career goal. You need to know how to achieve this goal. Knowing the final career goal allows you to clarify your short-term career goals and reach your final goal step by step. The goal of career counseling is not only to help you make the right career decisions now, but also to give you the knowledge and skills you need to make career and life decisions in the future. In order to get the best job, some people need to see an individual psychologist or individual counseling in order to build enough self-confidence and self-esteem to choose a suitable job. What factors are effective in choosing a job? An important point that you must pay full attention to in order to choose the right job is to not be influenced by external factors in any way. Many times we don't have interest or talent in a job, but under the influence of other people's talk and behavior, we think that we are interested in that job! Maintenance: At this point, you should be satisfied with your role and may have achieved many of your goals. You can continue to build and achieve more or decide to pursue a different role or field. Decline: With retirement, your focus and productivity in your career may decrease as you focus on maintaining your personal health with rest and relaxation. Your working hours may be reduced or stopped completely at this stage. Who is a career counselor and how does he help us? An expert in this field will help you understand who you are and what you want from your education, career and life. Be someone you can talk to about your thoughts, ideas, feelings, and concerns about your career and educational choices and help you sort, organize, and make sense of your thoughts and feelings. It helps you to identify factors influencing your career development and helps you assess your interests, abilities and values. Helps you find sources and sources of job information. It helps you determine next steps and make a plan to reach your goals. What is important in career counseling is that this process should not be limited to choosing a good job or deciding to choose a major, but you should know that a person changes throughout his life, discovers new interests in himself, and by increasing his skills, he will have the ability to enter new work fields. The main criteria for choosing a job in career counseling Currently, job selection criteria are one of the most important and main drivers of young people to enter the labor market. However, it is normal to feel a little confused and worried about finding the best job placement; Because the society we live in today needs different services and products. Due to the expansion of technology all over the world and the increase in the level of human needs, various jobs have been created, each of which provides a part of people's needs for products and services. The most important of these criteria are: 1. Job availability One of the most important principles of job selection is job availability. The meaning of job availability in career counseling is to choose a job that you can do in most seasons of the year and for a long time. When choosing a job, you should research to know what job you can continue for a long time. In addition, when choosing a job, pay attention to the fact that choosing seasonal jobs or jobs that can only be done for a short time, in addition to being exhausting, have no job guarantee and you may have to choose another job for yourself after a while. Therefore, before choosing a job, it is better to research about its future career and choose a job that is long-term and where there is a possibility of advancement. 2. Passion and interest Another ten principles for choosing a job is having passion and interest in the desired job. One of the most important questions that you should ask yourself before choosing a career path is what field or career are you interested in? What job makes me feel good? What are my career interests? Many people are not satisfied with their job and what they do, this dissatisfaction has caused them to consider their job as an exhausting job, but this is not the case! Dissatisfaction of people with the work they do is due to lack of interest in that work. Therefore, if you want to be satisfied with your job in the future and the work you do is not exhausting for you, instead it gives you a good feeling, you should think about your interests before choosing a job, and find the right job according to your interests and talents. 3. Attention to skill Paying attention to one's skills is one of the job selection criteria. The skills of each person are the strength of that person, which helps him to do the desired work in the best possible way. One of the most common questions that are asked in job interviews is that, the employer asks you in what field are you good at? Or what is your skill? The employer's purpose in asking this question is to know in what field you can contribute to the progress of work. In other words, by asking this question, the employer wants to know what success and progress your presence in that company can bring. To find a good job, it is better to increase your skills. The more your communication skills and other skills are, the more job opportunities will happen to you. As a key point, it should be said that it is better to write down your skills and choose the right career path for you according to your skills. 4. Talent Each person's talent helps him to be more successful in his work. Every person has one, two or more talents. The important thing is that people discover their talent, choose the right career path according to their talent. Choosing a job in which you are talented will make you progress better in your work. 5. Education level The level of education can be mentioned as one of the ten principles for choosing a job. Having job-related education is one of the keys to success and advancement in the desired job. Even if you are hired in a job without having a degree, you should continue your education in that field and get a degree related to your job in order to progress in your career and succeed at work. In some jobs, it is very important to have a relevant degree, and people must have that degree to work in the desired job. Instead, there are jobs that do not require a degree and people must acquire the necessary skills to work in that job. The common point between these two categories of jobs is that there must be a type of training in both. In some, this training is given through academic degrees and university educational environment, in others, through experiential skills training. 6. Type of attitude to work The difference in people's interests and way of thinking has caused different people to have different attitudes towards that work when they work in the same environment. One of the most important criteria for choosing a job is paying attention to a person's attitude towards that desired job. If you are one of those people who like to experience excitement and stress, choosing stressful jobs can be exciting for you, and if you hate stress and like a calm work environment, you should turn to jobs that have less job stress. Paying attention to these points will increase your satisfaction with your job. 7. Job experience Having work experience increases your chances of getting hired in the job you have experience in. Many employers and companies are more willing to hire people who have more work experience, in other words, it should be said that the employer is interested in hiring a person who already has experience in that job and profession. The reason for this behavior of the employer is that hiring experienced people makes the company experience better career development. A person who has enough experience does not waste time on trial and error and knows how to improve. One of the best ways to gain experience is volunteering in internships. By taking these courses, you will gain enough experience about your desired job, and this will bring you closer to your desired job. 8. Salaries and wages First of all, it should be said that salary is not one of the important things that you should put it at the top of your career path decision. But it is also necessary to pay attention to it. It is better to research about the salary before choosing a job. The salary of a good job should be enough to cover the necessary expenses of your life.
