Ultrasound and its applications
Ultrasound is a non-invasive diagnostic test that uses sound waves to create visible images of the body, uterus, placenta and other pelvic organs. In this article, you can get useful information about ultrasound and its uses. Ultrasound allows you to be informed about the pregnancy routine and the health of the fetus during pregnancy. In this test, the sonographer passes ultrasound waves from the uterus to the body of the fetus. After that, a computer encodes and the waves are converted into video images. In these images, the shape, position and movements of the fetus are displayed. Ultrasound waves are also used in handheld devices, including Doppler. This device is available in the doctor's office and you can hear the sound of your fetus's heart through it.Types of ultrasound
The types of ultrasounds are:
-
- Transvaginal ultrasound: used to produce ultrasound images inside the vagina, transvaginal ultrasound is often used during early pregnancy.
- Normal ultrasound: an examination that uses a transducer and is used in different areas of the body such as the abdomen to produce two-dimensional images of the developing fetus.
- Specialized ultrasound: This examination is similar to a regular ultrasound, but this type targets a suspected problem and uses more complex equipment.
- Color Doppler imaging: This imaging method measures small changes in the frequency of ultrasound waves because they image moving objects such as blood cells.
- 3D ultrasound: using pre-designed special props and specialized software, it prepares 3D images of the developing fetus.
- 4D or 3D dynamic ultrasound: using specially designed scanners and used to look at the baby's face and movements before delivery. Fetal echocardiography: the use of ultrasound waves to evaluate and check the anatomy and function of the child's heart. This report is used to help evaluate problems with congenital heart defects.

Applications of ultrasound
Ultrasound can be very useful for diagnosing and evaluating body injuries in different conditions. This type of imaging is a suitable method for examining many internal organs of the body. Some of the things that can be examined through ultrasound include: heart and blood vessels, liver, gall bladder, spleen, pancreas, kidneys, bladder, uterus and ovaries and ultrasound of pregnancy, eyes, thyroid and parathyroid glands, scrotum (testicles), brain of babies, pelvis of babies, spine of babies, soft tissue and breast, elastography of liver and elastography of breast masses.
What problems are shown by ultrasound?
In ultrasound, some serious problems, such as the heart rhythm of the fetus, which is treated by taking medicine inside the abdomen, or the closure of the urinary tract, which is solved by surgery before birth, and other problems can be solved and treated if they are noticed by ultrasound.
