The method of performing various corona tests

Except for smart algorithms such as online corona test that can estimate the infection status through the occurrence of corona symptoms, there are two types of covid-19 tests for more accurate diagnosis of corona: infectious detection test (PCR) and antibody test.

  • The first point is that the PCR test determines the presence of any current infection in the body.
  • Secondly, the antibody test shows if you have been infected in the past....this test may not detect a current infection in the body because the body starts producing antibodies 1-3 weeks after the infection occurs....having antibodies to the virus that causes covid-19 can protect the body from re-infection, if not yet protected by this virus, this is still true....it provides antibodies Or for how long it provides immunity... Slow.

Result of Corona Test

1... Infectious detection test (PCR)

In this test, a sample is taken from the respiratory tract, such as by placing an ear swab in the nose, to determine whether you are currently infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes the disease, Covid-19.. Some tests are performed at the point of care, which means that test results are ready in less than an hour at the test site, but it is necessary to send another batch of tests to the laboratory for review, and this process takes 1-2 days.

How to do the PCR test?

Here is some information to help you decide whether to get tested for infection:

  • Most people get a mild illness and recover at home without the need for medical care....If your symptoms get worse or you have questions about your condition, contact the best infectious disease specialist or pulmonologist.
  • If you have symptoms of Covid-19 and have not been tested, stay home.
  • Currently, no definitive treatment has been approved for Covid-19 patients.

Covid-19 testing is different in each region... If you have symptoms of Covid-19 and want to get tested, contact your doctor first... However, you still need to send the sample to a lab for testing.

What should we do after the infectious diagnostic test (PCR)

To get the results, please coordinate with the person who performed the test for you, such as a doctor or laboratory technician...

  • If the test result is positive and you are sick or caring for someone special, take preventive measures.
  • If the test was negative, you probably didn't have the disease when you were tested, but that doesn't mean you won't get sick.... The test result means you didn't have Covid-19 when you were tested.... If the sample was taken early in the disease, it may be negative and later in the disease, the result may be positive.... This means you are still likely to spread and transmit the virus. If you develop symptoms later, you will need to have another test to determine whether you are infected with the virus that causes Covid-19.

2... Antibody test

In this test, the antibody in the blood sample is checked to determine if you have already been infected with the covid-19 virus. Antibody is a protein that helps fight infection and protects the body from reinfection with the virus (immunity).

An antibody test should be used to diagnose a current covid-19 infection only if an infectious diagnostic test is delayed.... If you currently have covid-19, an antibody test may not show the presence of the virus because the body starts producing antibodies 1-3 weeks after the onset of illness.

How to do the antibody test?

You can ask your doctor if he does an antibody test and if you need it.

What do antibody test results mean?

If the answer is yes:

  • A positive result may indicate the presence of antibodies in your body as a result of being infected with the Covid-19 virus... However, a positive result may mean that you have antibodies in your body as a result of being infected with a virus from the coronavirus family, such as the virus that causes the common cold.
  • Perhaps the presence of antibodies to the virus that causes the disease of covid-19, provides immunity against re-infection with this disease..
  • Talk to your doctor about the test result and the type of test you had so that you know the test result... Your doctor may ask you to do another type of antibody test to make sure the first test is correct.
  • Again, you should protect yourself and others from the virus because you may get the virus again.... If you have a job that requires you to use personal protective equipment, continue to use it.
  • Even if you have never had symptoms of Covid-19, your antibody test may be positive...

If the answer is no:

  • You probably don't have Covid-19 yet... Talk to your doctor about your test result and the type of test you had to find out.
  • You may already be infected but it won't show up on the test.
  • The reason the test is negative is that it takes 1-3 weeks for the body to produce antibodies....if you have been recently exposed to the virus, there is still a chance that you will get the disease....meaning you are a carrier of the virus.
  • The production of antibodies in the body of some people takes more time, and in the body of some people who are infected with the virus, antibodies are never produced.

If you develop symptoms after the antibody test, you will need another type of test called an infectious disease diagnostic test (PCR).

Regardless of whether the test is positive or negative, the results of the seal are not a confirmation that you are a carrier or not... until we have more information, take the necessary steps to protect yourself and others.
