Uterine fibroids are also called 'myoma' or leiomyoma, which are lumps of uterine muscles or myometrium. Uterine fibroids have a low probability of becoming malignant (less than one in a thousand). Myomas are also different. Some fibroids grow quickly and in some cases they do not grow much over the years. Myomas may grow inside the muscles or on the outer surface of the uterus or inside the uterus. href="http://drsedighehakhavan.ir/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/301002516_784213752896802_7424240609967811388_n.mp4 ">http://drsedighehakhavan.ir/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/301002516_784213752896802_7424240609967811388_n.mp4 Symptoms and signs The most important symptom of fibroids is heavy bleeding during the monthly period, which leads to anemia. When the fibroids are large, they put pressure on the intestines, the urinary tracts of the kidneys, and disrupt their function. Fibroids in pregnancy may cause miscarriage, premature birth, placental abruption, and disturbances in the development of the fetus. The causes of uterine fibroids are currently unknown, but hereditary and hormonal factors (Estrogen, Progesterone) are considered to be involved. Uterine myomas are diagnosed with a gynecologist's examination and ultrasound. Treatment: In some cases where the myoma does not have any side effects, the patient is monitored. In cases where the bleeding is severe, but the patient cannot be operated on for some reason, gnrH Differlin or Decapeptil ampoules can be used, which have a temporary effect, and these ampoules also have the side effects of hot flashes, depression, decreased libido, etc.
Uterine vessel embolization is also one of the ways to treat fibroids. In this method, by injecting a substance through angiography, the blood supply to the fibroid is disrupted and the fibroids shrink. But in cases where the doctor deems it advisable, the fibroids should be surgically removed. If the patient is close to menopause, it is better to remove the uterine fibroids as well so that basic treatment can be done.
