Physical pain is an unpleasant feeling that the body experiences as a result of injury, illness or other physical trauma. Physical pain may range from mild discomfort to debilitating pain and can be caused by a variety of factors, including inflammation, nerve damage, or tissue damage.
Pain acts as a warning signal to the body that something is wrong and needs attention. It also acts as a protective mechanism by limiting movement and preventing pain in the neck, joints, including age, gender, and mental status.
Although pain is an unpleasant experience, it plays an important role in helping us prevent potential harm and protect our bodies from further harm. :
