Electrosurgical loop (LEEP)

Leap electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) is a surgical technique used to treat abnormal cells on the cervix. During the procedure, a thin wire loop is passed through the vagina and an electric current is used to remove the damaged tissue.

LEEP is usually performed under local anesthesia in a doctor's office or clinic and usually takes less than 30 minutes. This method has a high success rate in the treatment of abnormal cervical cells and can prevent the progression of cervical cancer

However, as with any medical procedure, there are risks and potential side effects associated with LEEP, including bleeding, infection, and Scar. In the highly specialized clinic of Dr. Diana Hosseini, the LEEP process is performed with an advanced device.
