What is dental veneer?
Dental veneers are thin tooth-colored shells that are placed on the surface of the teeth to improve the appearance of the teeth and give patients a more beautiful smile. The method used to place the veneers is minimally invasive and requires the removal of a small amount of tooth enamel to place it.
### What are dental laminates?
Laminates perform the same function as veneers and sometimes the two terms are used interchangeably... Laminates differ in that they are much thinner and require less removal to place enamel.

**Dental veneers:**
Dental veneers are made of two different materials, composite and porcelain.

On the other hand, porcelain veneers are usually twice the price of composite veneers and require the removal of tooth enamel to be placed.. They also look natural, are more durable and can last up to ten years.
Placing a veneer, especially porcelain veneers, requires removing some of the tooth enamel and changing the shape of the tooth....this is done in order to make the veneer sit flat and prevent the veneer from looking bulky and unnatural....this creates a problem because the natural protection of the tooth is removed and the only thing left to protect it is the crown...the tooth is gone.

Laminates can be called advanced porcelain veneers because they both have the same function and features....when the laminate is placed, the enamel and tooth structure does not need to change....although this may be better for dental health in the long run, laminates still have disadvantages.
While laminates are only about the thickness of contact lenses and a thinner alternative to porcelain veneers, they add volume to teeth without changing the teeth when placed on them... They are also usually more expensive than porcelain veneers.
