استفاده از دستگاه‌های معادل یا بیشتر از 8 لامپی و یا تونلی در منزل قدغن می‌باشد و این نوع دستگاه‌ها بایستی در بیمارستان و تحت نظارت پرستار مورد استفاده قرار گیرد. زیرا زردی در روش فتوتراپی از طریق ادرار و‌ مدفوع دفع می‌شود و استفاده از این تعداد لامپ، شدت نور را افزایش می‌دهد نوزاد را دچار بیرون‌روی می‌کند. این اتفاق باعث می‌شود نوزاد آب زیادی از دست بدهد.
